Tight ≠ Strong ...why tight isn't always right

Writer: CamilleCamille

Many women think that a tight pelvic floor = strong pelvic floor, but that’s not the case. Strength isn’t just about squeezing—it’s about control, coordination, and the ability to relax as well as contract

An overactive pelvic floor (one that stays too tight) can lead to:

⚠️ Leaking despite doing Kegels

⚠️ Pelvic pain or heaviness

⚠️ Pain during sex or tampon use

⚠️ Feeling like you can’t fully empty your bladder

A healthy pelvic floor needs full range of motion—able to contract when needed and relax fully at rest. If you’re unsure whether your pelvic floor is working properly, send me an email - pelvic health physio can help!
